I found a little
plain on the side of a steep hill. The hill facing towards this little
plain was as steep as a house. The plain was not more than a hundred
yards wide and twice as long and lay like a green before my door. At
the other end it descended irregularly down to the low ground by the
seaside and was sheltered from the heat of the sun every day until near
the setting of the sun. (Now, near Scarborough Harbour).
