I CAME ON SHORE HERE ON THE 30TH OF SEPTEMBER, 1659.

I took a large post and made it into a great cross. I set it up on the shore where I had first landed, and with my knife I cut into it:

I CAME ON SHORE HERE
ON THE 30TH OF SEPTEMBER, 1659.

(Now, eastern shore of Rockly Bay, which is a corruption of the Dutch word for "Red Cliff" Bay).
